Improving video performance on slow networks and computers

Some Internet connections aren't capable of displaying Visimeet video in large quantities and/or at higher quality settings. This can result in decreased video quality. Here are three simple ways to adjust for this during your meeting.

  • Send your video on a smaller resolution setting. Lower resolutions are less demanding on computers and networks.
    • Right click on your camera image,
    • choose "Send Resolution"
    • Select the next lowest resolution setting. If performance has not improved, choose a lower setting.
  • Sending video can sometimes be more difficult than receiving it. You can close your camera window to save bandwidth for your audio.
    • Close your camera window
    • When Visimeet asks you if you want to stop transmitting, say yes
    • to reactivate your camera, click on the video options icon and choose send.
  • Finally, when you're in a Visimeet meeting, close the video windows of any meeting participants you don't need to view at the moment. You'll use less bandwidth when you are displaying fewer videos. You can open them again later by clicking the red camera icons on the participant list.
